Thanks to the effort during last year's EPCOR wastewater case, we learned that we, the residents of Verrado, have a lot of say in how things turn out when it comes to utilities. But it's too complicated to take up lightly and make up as we go. And, thanks to the great relationships we built during that process, we have the support of the community and the Verrado Community association to form a permanent committee to make sure we are ready for whatever comes our way.
Yes, but what do you actually do?
In simplest terms, we are here to help Verrado residents get the best value and support out of their gas, water, and electric utilities. And we are working on a number of different ways to make that happen. We will be focusing on three main areas:
- Understanding and managing your usage (through conservation and other means)
- Acting as a liaison to utility providers to resolve questions or problems
- Advocating for rate policies in cases before the ACC
All of these depend on one thing: communication. It's essential that we can share important information with you and that you can reach us. This website is a first step in that. But there will be more. We will engage with Leadership, provide reports at the quartely board meetings, provide updates through Facebook, deliver education workshops, and any other means that will work.
Our council meets once a month. Meeting dates and times will be published on Verrado.net and they are open to all residents. If you can't make it, that's fine. You'll find the minutes for every meeting published here on this website. Plus, you can send us a message any time you like.
