The Utilities Council had a very productive month in August. There is lots to share, so let's get to it.
As always, we met on the last Monday of the month. Our meeting minutes are always posted on this site, so if you want to catch up, just visit the Minutes and Reports page. Our next meeting will be on September 28th.
Community Engagement
This month, we presented at both the Verrado Community Association board meeting and the Verrado Leadership meeting. We shared who we are and what we are up to as part of getting the community more aware of the Council's presence and how to engage us.
We continue to post our updates via Facebook on the VerradoCommunityPride page and also share them directly to leadership through a distribution list using Google Groups. Our new web page is available on Verrado.net, but we are still determining what content should go there.
APS Electric
This month, the ACC heard APS' request to increase the LFCR DG charge to solar customers. In an interesting vote, the Commission decided "not to decide" and sent APS back to the drawing board. The judge who reviews and drafts all of the ACC's orders recommended outright dismissal, so this is a pseudo victory for APS, as the issue remains alive. We continue to monitor the issue and will decide whether to intervene in the next month.
EPCOR Water
EPCOR was due to submit its new wastewater rate case by the end of September. However, this month they requested an extension by the ACC, proposing instead to submit it in April of 2016. EPCOR has been warned by the ACC that their numbers in other rate cases haven't been comprehensive enough, and so they want the extra time to ensure their first submission is sufficient to get them through the case.
We will be meeting with EPCOR executives, along with other communities in the Agua Fria and Anthem districts, on September 4th. We will of course share any news that comes out of that session.
Looking for Members
The Utilities Council has two vacancies on our nine-member panel. We are looking for individuals who have the time and energy to share on behalf of our community. No utilities experience or background is needed, just a willingness to learn. If interested, just email us at utilitiescouncil@verrado.com.
