What's at stake? In Verrado and across the Agua Fria district, EPCOR customers are paying over $71 a month for wastewater. EPCOR's proposal for consolidated rates would put it somewhere around $40 a month.Mrs Becky Blue and Mr Michael Harris from Verrado's Utilities Council spoke on behalf of Verrado customers. Their comments focused on the constitutional and good-policy drivers that underscore the importance of deciding in favor of consolidation.
On the other side, six busloads of residents from Sun City arrived and spoke, one after another, about the unfair burden that consolidation would put on them all. It was emotional; it was often at odds with the facts; and it was effective.
If you want your wastewater bills lowered through consolidation, it is essential that you write to the commission and voice your support. It's simple to do. You can go to azcc.gov and click on any of the commissioners' faces to pull up their email address and contact them directly. You can also go straight to the public comment form on the website and submit directly to the docket. You will need a few things:
- The Case Number: WS-01303A-16-0145
- Company Name: EPCOR
- Check: Your Position "For"
