This evening, after about four hours of debate and comment, the Arizona Corporation Commission voted, four to one, in favor of consolidation of EPCOR's wastewater districts. The decision will go into effect as of July 1st.
The Commission adopted the judge's Recommended Opinion, which will bring all EPCOR wastewater customers to the same rate, gradually, over the course of five years. For Verrado, that means our current $71 wastewater fee will go down, once a year, until we settle somewhere around $38. The first increment, taking effect in July, is expected to be somewhere around $63.
We don't know the exact final numbers because there were a number of amendments submitted and approved by commissioners that impact EPCOR's bottom line. Those still need to be calculated out. As soon as we have those details, we'll put them out.
Your July bill will be split between the old rate and the new rate, since the change takes effect mid-way through the billing cycle. Come August, you'll see the full effect of the change.
Make no mistake, this was a landmark decision for the state of Arizona. This was the result of three years' worth of work, dozens of volunteers, hundreds of residents passing the word, signing letters, and showing up, and a strong partnership between the UC and the Verrado Community Association, as well as DMB. Together, this community, along with our fellow communities across Agua Fria and Anthem, made it happen.
Michael and Michelle-- Thank you so much for your diligence in keeping up the fight for fairness. Your hard work and dedication with seeing this through and keeping us informed as to what to do to help the effort is greatly appreciated, you two are AMAZING!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% Patty. Thanks Mike and Michelle for all the effort and hard work you put into this victory. All of Verrado and the Aqua Fria water district are in your debt.
DeleteGreat leadership and everyone's efforts paid off. Thank you, Michael and Michelle, for never giving up and for giving so much of your time and energy to helping all of us save money. The Johnson's.
ReplyDeleteThe compliments are truly appreciated. I have said it before and will say it again: this is a COMMUNITY victory. So many people showed up. So many volunteered. So many wrote in. And, through it all, everyone carried themselves with poise. You did Verrado proud.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would be remiss if I didn't thank specifically and by name: Judy Mullins, Susan and Jim Leahy, Bill Gumpenberger, Betty Jo and Rick Sargent, Becky Blue, Debbie Sailer, Peter O'Grady, Dave and Mary Hosbein, Amy Hayslett, Pat Martin, Joe Ward, Ray Valle, and Mark Rice. THESE PEOPLE have been with us from the beginning . Their names don't get mentioned nearly enough. The community owes them their thanks.
This is truly a victory for all of Verrado thanks to members of the Utilities Council and all the residents who stepped up to support their hard work by participating in letter writing and attending meetings. YAY
ReplyDeleteLoan Opportunity Offered By Mr, Benjamin That Save My Family From Financial Bondage {lfdsloans@lemeridianfds.com}
ReplyDeleteHello Everyone, I am Putri Adiratnaa single mom from Jakarta, I would like to share this great testimony on how I got a loan from Mr, Benjamin, when we were driven out of our home when I couldn't pay my bills anymore, After being scammed by various companies online and denied a loan from my bank and some other credit union I visited. My children were taken by the foster care, I was all alone in the street. The day i shamefully walked into an old school mate who introduced me to Daisy Maureen. At first I told her that I am not ready to take any risk of requesting a loan online anymore, but she assured me that I will receive my loan from them. On a second thought, due to my homelessness I had to take a trial and applied for the loan, luckily for me I received a loan of $80,000.00 from Mr, Benjamin. I'm happy I took the risk and applied for the loan. My kids have been given back to me and now I own a home and a business of my own. All thanks and gratitude goes to Le_Meridian Funding Service and for the help of Mr, Benjamin for giving me a meaning to life when i had lost all hope.
