No Settlement on EPCOR Case; Testimony Filed

In a closed meeting on December 8th, the interim director of the Utilities Division for the Arizona Corporation Commission stated that the EPCOR case would not be settled early and that it is important for the elected commissioners to come to a decision on this case.

What does that mean for Verrado?  We fight to the finish.

Testimony on the part of the intervenors is due by the end of this week.  Michelle Harris, co-chair of the Utilities Council of Verrado, as well as Michele Van Quathem, attorney for DMB White Tanks and the Verrado Community Association, Inc. (VCA) have filed theirs in the docket.  Read Michelle's testimony here and the VCA's here.

Here's the bottom line:  Both intervenors for Verrado have testified in support of full consolidation of EPCOR's wastewater districts, which, if adopted, would result in a $30 decrease in the wastewater portion of your monthly bill (from $71 to $41).  Michelle's testimony cited the Arizona Constitution's requirement for equal pricing for "like and contemporaneous service" and the unfair burden on EPCOR's smallest districts if things are left as-is or if we're split apart even further.

We need your help, Verrado.
Public comment has been a big part of this issue in the last two rounds.  The first time, Verrado wasn't involved and we paid the price.  The second time, we got organized and we scored a victory.  The third time, if we are all heard, we can put this issue to rest once and for all.

If you pay a bill in this community, then you have a voice.  You don't have to be a voter, a homeowner, or an official Arizona resident; you just have to be an EPCOR customer.  All you have to do is go to our Current Case tab and you can file your public comment right from there.  You can do this as many times as you want.  You can also go to the Center on Main and sign a hard-copy letter, which we will mail in for you.  It only takes a few minutes, and it WILL make a difference.

Thank you for your support and we will keep you posted as the case continues.
